Meet Lisa Francine, our Library Director.
Q: What drew you to Fenn thirteen years ago?
A: Fenn’s mission for educating the whole boy!
Q: What do you enjoy most about working here?
A: Our supportive ethos for taking care of each other, living Sua Sponte [Fenn’s motto, which translates to “It’s in your hands.”] and being guided by our four core values: courage, honesty, empathy, and respect. Both the students and the adults in our community live these values on a daily basis.
Q: What are other activities and interests at Fenn?
A: I am a member of the Diversity Committee and the Fenn Diversity Institute Planning Committee.
Q: What do you hope the boys come away with after working with you?
A: My hope is that the boys feel valued and respected for their opinions and that they feel safe asking questions and pursuing intellectual challenges. As their librarian, I also hope that they discover a favorite author, series, or genre of book during their Fenn career.
Q: What are your passions and interests outside of Fenn?
A: Reading, researching, stand-up paddle boarding, kayaking, and bicycling.
Q: Family/children?
A: Jordana Shaw is my wife and partner (and my fellow librarian in the family).
Q: What did Fenn do for your son?
A: Fenn allowed him to discover who he was as a learner, to excel at his interests (Fenn Radio and Theater Tech) and to discover new interests, such as when he served as a ninth grade senator.
