There’s one scene here at Summer Fenn that always captures the essence of camp for me. Sometimes it pulls at my heart strings so intensely, and makes me well up with pride and satisfaction. It happens when we gather in the morning at the canopies in the meadow as campers arrive, and again at the end of the day as we await the arrival of parents at pickup.  Children are playing, pairs and groups sprawled out across the middle of our green grass on this scenic campus. In our daily lives we celebrate the birthdays, the anniversaries, the graduations, the retirements… we mark the milestones of achievement and longevity. We collectively recognize that there’s something worthwhile in the sustained success of a job or a relationship, something valuable about continuing on a path that’s meaningful. Here at Summer Fenn we have the distinct privilege of seeing our campers grow and thrive year after year in the unique community of camp. We get an 8 week snapshot each summer in which children can learn and develop and achieve in a place that is familiar and welcoming.
