GUIDELINES & POLICIES

The Jafari Library Equipment Use

The Fenn School Library has laptop computers available for circulation by Middle School and Upper School students. These computers may be used during study halls, in the Schoolhouse building only, to complete homework assignments. The use of these computers is guided by the Acceptable Use Policy. The laptops must be checked out of the library using the online circulation system, and must be returned at the end of the study hall period. Laptops must be turned off and plugged in when placed back in the laptop cart.

The Jafari Library Interlibrary Loan Procedure

To supplement its own collection The Fenn School Library makes use of the free interlibrary loan program from Minuteman Public Library network. Patrons may make requests for materials via interlibrary loan by contacting Lisa Francine, or by visiting the library and asking her to order a requested item.

The librarian will make interlibrary loan requests on behalf of the patron using the Fenn School Library Card. When the items arrive, the librarian will retrieve them from the public library and deliver them to the Fenn School Library where they can be retrieved by the patron. Items may circulate for three weeks, and may be renewed through the librarian if there are no holds on them.

The Jafari Library Circulation Policy

It is library policy to make its resources accessible to the community in an equitable manner. Books circulate for three weeks for students and faculty. Any book may be renewed if not being requested by another patron. While there are no fines for overdue items, replacement costs will be levied for lost or damaged materials at the end of each school year.

Students are reminded of the items they have out three times yearly (November, February, and May). Notices are distributed to students by their advisors with the intention that boys then bring these notices home. Unreturned materials will be designated as lost at the end of the school year. Lost and/or damaged materials will be billed to students’ home addresses at the end of the year by the Business Office.
