Alexander P. Lynch ’66

Alex Lynch is Chairman of Banking at Barclays Investment Bank, where he focuses on developing relationships with Barclays’ clients, both within the financial institutions space and in other industries, particularly those that have propositions overlapping with and/or strong connections to financial institutions. Previously, Alex served as a partner at White Deer Energy, a private equity group that invests in middle market energy companies. Prior to that, he spent 15 years at J.P. Morgan, where he served as Global Chairman of J.P. Morgan’s Investment Bank. He also served as Chairman of the North American Mergers and Acquisitions Group and Global Chairman of the Financial Institutions Group (FIG) while at J.P. Morgan. Before joining J.P. Morgan, Alex was a general partner of The Beacon Group, a private investment and strategic advisory firm, and was a member of its operating and investment committees. He began his career at Lehman Brothers in 1976, where he was ultimately a member of that company’s management committee.

During his long career, Alex has served on a number of NYSE publicly-traded and privately-held corporate boards, as well as on the board of numerous not-for-profit organizations and educational institutions. Alex is currently a member of the board of trustees of the Cancer Research Institute, where he has served since 2002. His commitment to education can be seen in his service to schools. He is a former trustee of St. Andrew’s School in Delaware, Trinity College in Connecticut, and served as chair of the board of trustees at Greenwich Country Day School, also in Connecticut. After graduating from Fenn in 1966, Alex attended The Hotchkiss School. At the University of Pennsylvania, he received a B.A. in economics in 1974 and an M.B.A.in 1976 from the its Wharton School.
