The whole purpose of the admission process is for us to get to know you and your son, and for you to gain an understanding of Fenn’s program. Our admission process starts in mid-September and all materials and steps must be complete by January 30 th for your son’s application to be considered in the first round of admission decisions. Fenn proudly adheres to the National Association of Independent Schools admission time frames, which allows for your family to apply by January 30 th, and all families will be notified of the admission decision on March 10th. Available slots for campus appointments fill quickly so we encourage families to schedule early. The following are the steps to apply:
1. Schedule your campus tour. This takes about an hour and allows you and your son to see Fenn on a typical school day. It is not necessary to have completed an application prior to touring. Tours are offered weekdays at 8:30, 9:30, and 11:15 and are by appointment only. Call Marilyn Schmalenberger at 978-318-3606 or email her at mschmalenberger@fenn.org. 2. Schedule your son’s interview. Interviews generally take about 45 minutes and consist of general conversation and a brief academic assessment. Call Marilyn Schmalenberger at 978-318-3606 or email her at mschmalenberger@fenn.org. 3. Schedule Admissions Testing. Fenn requires ONE of three standardized test options: SSAT (Secondary School Admission Test). Fenn’s code is 3136. The test is offered on several dates at many locations. For more information about registering, vist SSAT.orgISEE (Independent SchoolEntrance Exam). Register for the ISEE at http://erblearn.org/parents/admission/isee/registrationWISC (Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children). This exam is typically offered at child psychologists’ offices and generally costs between $250 and $500. If your child has had a WISC test within two year of applying to Fenn, it is possible to use this testing to satisfy the admissions testing requirement. Contact Amy Jolly at ajolly@fenn.org if you have any concerns about testing or to request one of a limited number of SSAT fee waivers
4. Download and complete the Fenn application. 5. Submit teacher recommendation forms to your son’s teacher after the first marking period ends. If interested, apply for financial aid at http://sss.nais.org/parents/7. Download and sign the Transcript Release form to your son’s current school registrar or principal. 8.
