The Fenn team came in third, with Johnny Kim, an eighth grader and the team captain, placing second in a field of 120 students. “They did a great job,” said math teacher Jay Samoylenko, the team’s coach.

Fenn will be represented at the state championships, to be held at the Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston on March 6. It will be the third year that Fenn has participated in this competition. Last year Fenn finished 17th in the state; the team finished 5th the year before. Team A, which will attend the championships, includes Johnny Kim, Nathan Dinsmore (grade 7), Alaric Krapf (7), and Cole Winstanley (6). Team B members are Chase Parisi (8), Gabriel Parlin (8), Aneesh Ashutosh (7), and Cole Turissini (7). Team alternates are Joe Pacheco (8) and Miles Petrie (8).
