Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

The Fenn School has long strived to provide an empathetic, respectful, and supportive community to all alumni, students, families, faculty, and staff. Heightened tensions and national and international conflicts of late underscore the urgency to confront the sources and implications of bigotry and violence. We work to identify actions that Fenn and the community can take to combat injustice and build bridges across lines of difference.

In the summer of 2024, The Fenn School adopted its inaugural diversity, equity, and inclusion vision statement, exemplifying its commitment to creating a truly just and equitable school. We continue to evaluate our processes and the needs of our community, holding each other accountable to personal and institutional DEI goals.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Vision Statement

With the goal of honoring and uplifting human dignity, The Fenn School is committed to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. In line with our core values, we foster honest dialogue, respect for people and the land, empathy for others’ experiences, and the courage to stand against injustice.

The Fenn School acknowledges that systemic racism exists in our country and independent school communities; we recognize that we have an urgent responsibility to create a culture in which all members of our community are held accountable for their personal growth and treatment of others. We challenge our students and adults to disrupt and dismantle all forms of hate, injustice, and inequity at Fenn and beyond. Embracing and acting on our roles as global and local citizens, we create and sustain collaborative initiatives that serve and empower communities. Together we can create a more just world.
