We believe that sports are a unifying force, helping our boys develop skills, teamwork, and good sportsmanship. Every full school day, Fenn boys engage in athletics and build this personal toolkit with faculty and staff coaches as their guides.

A boy's trajectory through Fenn athletics begins in the Lower School with a blend of games and traditional sports played among Fenn peers in grades 4 and 5. Middle and Upper School students across grades 6-9 then participate in competitive traditional sports that serve all abilities. Across these experiences, we instill in our students a desire to do one’s best and to win, but the essence of Fenn athletics is to provide positive experiences that build confidence and a sense of school and team pride.

“Athletics at Fenn is an extension of the classroom. Our boys learn to grow as people, athletes, and teammates. The lessons they learn through the victories and the defeats are so important in their long-term maturation and development.”

-Ben Smith, Director of Athletics

A Look Inside Athletics at Fenn

Spotlight: Outdoor Adventure

Our Outdoor Adventure programming of archery, canoeing, fishing, hiking, and more is offered to Lower School students as one of their sports rotations and can be enjoyed by Middle and Upper School students as an alternative to a traditional sport for one season each school year. All students are also able to challenge themselves on our ropes course and climbing wall as part of the program. Led by trained and certified on-campus experts, the boys push themselves and support each other as they conquer each challenge within their Outdoor Adventure pursuits.
