![]() ![]() Dear FIRSTNAME,
I would like to take this opportunity to re-introduce the Fenn Alumni Newsletter! The coronavirus has presented some unique challenges and changes to life at Fenn, but it's time to show you that much of the School's charm and "special sauce" is still the same. Over the course of the spring, there will be many exciting updates about what our alums are up to and how faculty are adjusting to their new normal, as well as announcements about Fenn events and initiatives and ways to engage with your fellow alumni.
All the best,
Acting Alumni Engagement Officer ALUMNI NEWS & EVENTS ![]() The Votes are in: Brian Davidson '89, Alumni Council President The Fenn Alumni Council is charged with developing initiatives to uphold, foster, and increase the loyalty and support of Fenn alumni. The Council works to promote the general welfare of the School by providing services and networking opportunities and helping to strengthen alumni connections with the School and each other. This past month, the group was tasked with choosing a nominee for Council President. This nominee would then be confirmed by the Board of Trustees. In a very tight race, the Council chose to nominate Brian Davidson '89 as the next Alumni Council President. Now that Brian has been made the Presidential Nominee, he will be confirmed by the Alumni Association (entire alumni body) at our Alumni Town Hall on April 23. Brian is the current Council Secretary and has been a loyal and active member for over a decade. He will serve a three-year term and help to lead an already robust volunteer group and further the Council's programs. Congratulations, Brian! ![]() Fenn Headstone Project ![]() Recent Alumni Helping Amidst the Coronavirus Crisis Theo Randall '20, a freshman at Phillips Andover, joined forces with his sister Ivy and their friend Elizabeth Wolfram to start 'Students Against COVID-19' with the primary mission of maintaining a makeshift food pantry for Emerson Hospital healthcare workers on the front lines and their families. The trio was recently featured in Concord's Wicked Local (among other news outlets) and on Fenn's Facebook and LinkedIn pages. Empathy is one of the guiding principles of Fenn, and the response of these young people to the needs of Emerson Hospital's staff members is a great example of that. Click any of the links above to learn more about what the non-profit is doing and how to get involved. ![]() John Fitzsimmons, English Teacher & Wrestling Coach, Now Live! Alumni are always asking how Fitz is doing. Whether it's a random Wednesday during wrestling season or at an Alumni event off-campus, the question is ever-present, "How's Fitz?!" Well, it's safe to say that Fitz is not only still coaching, wrestling, and teaching English at Fenn, but also entertaining our school community and the broader Concord community with great live music. You can regularly find him at the Colonial Inn on Thursday nights, sharing his acoustic guitar talents, but coronavirus precautions have canceled his live performances. Fitz is still singing though! Tune into his Facebook Live streams and catch him on Thursday nights starting at 8:00 p.m.! AN INVITATION Alumni Town Hall Virtual Event On Thursday, April 23, we will hold the first-ever Fenn Alumni Virtual Town Hall via Zoom. The approximately half-hour event will start at 5:00 p.m., and panelists will include Headmaster Derek Boonisar, current Alumni Council President AJ Sohn '84, and Nat Carr '97, Fenn's Head of the Lower School and Director of Faculty and Professional Development. Derek will provide an update on how Fenn is managing its Distance Learning program, and AJ will highlight alumni-centric initiatives transpiring this spring. Nat will shed light on how teachers and students are coping with their new learning environment and review how professional development is impacted when campus is no longer part of the day-to-day. You'll also have a chance to submit your burning questions about Fenn! WE WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU! Please send us great Fenn Alumni stories we may not have heard yet! To combat the current isolation, we want to share all of the exciting and impactful things our alumni are up to these days.
