Alums Soaring to New Heights
One of the amazing things about Fenn and the resurgence of this alumni newsletter is getting to hear about the incredible things some of our alumni are up to. Two of our young alums took to the skies! Owen Heaton '17 spent his 2019 summer in Idaho studying and training in order to become a pilot. He was one of two high school students to earn the Blake Chapman Scholarship for flight school and after 56 hours flying, a written test, and 5-hour practical test he is now officially a pilot! Owen was not the only teenager who graduated from Fenn to earn their pilot's license. Sid Modur '15 is currently a sophomore at Oberlin College but this past summer he took on the very same challenge as Owen. In pursuing one of his lifetime passions Sid was able to obtain his private pilot's license on the very first try! Congratulations to both of these courageous Fenn alums!

Anchors Aweigh!

Last week the entire school was lucky enough to hear the musical stylings of the Fenn Band during All School Meeting. Each member was able to record themselves on video mastering their own individual part and the final product was spliced together by band conductor Virginia Morales. Thanks to all the Fenn boys and musicians for their hard work! Enjoy the video here. 

Mosaic Fun! 

Much like the Romans of the second century BC, Fenn boys are artists! The mosaic pictured is from Ms. Libby's seventh grade Latin class. The class was tasked with researching Roman mosaics and then creating one of their own and sharing its significance with their classmates. Distance learning has meant that many classes have had to change the way they approach certain projects and this class was asked to use items found at home to create their mosaic masterpieces. A plethora of creative materials was used including ocean glass, coins, markers, rocks, sticks and flowers. Look at the detail on those waves!

Open Table Donation 

Fenn School has had a longstanding relationship with the Open Table program in Maynard, and COVID-19 hasn't affected the spirit of that partnership. David Ayotte, Fenn's culinary director, usually spends his days serving Fenn's boys, faculty, and staff delicious meals. Being away from campus hasn't stopped him from sharing the gift of good food. Check out the perishable ingredients for lasagna donated to Open Table's drive-thru program.

Monday, June 1, is Fenn's Day of Giving: The Field Day Classic. Help Fenn meet the challenge of securing 75 alumni Annual Fund gifts over the course of the day.
