Click Here >> Admissions Sees Spike in Applications and Anticipates Full Enrollment for September "We are in a really strong position." That's the message from Fenn's Admission and Financial Aid Director Tory Hayes '02, who says the School has experienced not just a solid admissions year, but also a 25% spike in applications. He predicts that Fenn will be fully enrolled for the fall by early June, with 325 students, including some 75 to 80 new boys. Among the applicants this year are ten boys from out of state whose families are moving to the area. Continue reading >> ALUMNI NEWS & EVENTS Mark Biscoe Tribute: A Fenn Legend If the true measure of a man is in the lives he touched, Mark Wyman Biscoe Sr. stood tall. Over the thirty-seven years Mark spent at Fenn teaching, coaching, and advising until his retirement in 1995, and through the twenty-five years after that until his passing at 84 last December in Maine, Mark's loyalty to the school he loved never faltered. Mark and his beloved wife, Jane, raised three children on campus, two of them Fenn graduates: Mark (Marcus) Jr. '74 and Andrew '79.
In the classroom, on the field, and in the dorm, Mark was principled, consistent, and wise, with an abiding humility, epitomizing the values that Fenn strives to instill in its boys. Joe Williams '81, headmaster of the New Hampton School, says Mark "taught me about poise, leadership, and the importance of being a good listener. He was the singular force in my life that made me a better man." In the Spotlight: Boat Builder William Skelly '18 Launches the Courage "There is nothing—absolutely nothing—half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats," according to Kenneth Grahame, the Scottish writer of The Wind in the Willows fame. William Skelly '18 would agree. Last spring William, 18, who has been sailing since he took a course on the Charles River at Community Boating in Boston four years ago, built his first wooden sailboat. His intent was to create a small sailing craft at his home in Carlisle that he could store in his garage while keeping to a budget of $1,000.
