Two Fenn Alums Selected During the 2025 NHL Draft

Two Fenn Alums Selected During the 2025 NHL Draft
Dominic Dipersia

During the second day of the 2025 NHL Draft in Los Angelas, California, Will Belle ’21 and Richard Galant ’22 heard their names called as a life-long dream came to fruition.

Belle, a University of Notre Dame hockey commit, was drafted 137th overall in the 5th round by the Toronto Maple Leafs. Gallant, a Harvard University hockey commit, was selected with the 210th pick in the 7th round by the San Jose Sharks.

These USA Hockey National Development Team teammates follow in the footsteps of two prior Fenn alums also selected in the NHL Draft. Just last year, Teddy Stiga ’21 was selected in the 2nd round by the Nashville Predators in the 2024 NHL Draft, while Ian Moore ’17, was selected by the Anaheim Ducks in the 3rd round of the 2020 NHL Draft. Belle and Gallant both took similar paths to hearing their name called as Stiga and Moore, as all four played for the USA Hockey National Development Team before their collegiate careers.

We wish Will and Richard good luck at the Maples Leafs and Sharks development camps before their collegiate careers begin this fall.
