Award-Winning Author Torrey Maldonado Visits Fenn

Award-Winning Author Torrey Maldonado Visits Fenn
Dominic Dipersia

On Wednesday, April 16, Fenn was honored to welcome acclaimed author Torrey Maldonado to campus for a day of engaging workshops, book signings, and an inspiring assembly presentation.

The smiling faces scattered throughout the crowd were a testament to the energy that filled Ward Hall. Mr. Maldonado’s visit was part of our ongoing efforts to foster a love of reading and to introduce students to a diversity of voices and perspectives. He shared his upbringing in Brooklyn’s Red Hook housing projects in New York, and how that shaped the storytelling he writes about today.

Students in each division received a copy of one of Mr. Maldonado’s books. Grades 4 & 5 received Hands, grades 6-8 received Tight, and our ninth graders received Secret Saturdays.

We’d like to thank our dedicated Parents Association volunteers, the English department, and our division heads for their support in helping Torrey Maldonado visit campus and engage deeply with each of our divisions.
