VARSITY BASEBALL

Fennway Park was the scene of some great baseball play this spring, as the Varsity Baseball team finished the season with a solid 8-3 record. The rainy weather throughout the spring made things difficult for the team to find their mojo early on, but this group was resilient, winning seven of their last eight games. Led by a strong ninth grade group that included captains Vinny Hogan and Marco Racanelli, as well as Chris Childs, was a main reason for the team’s success.

Following a tough 5-4 loss to Fessenden on the road, the team went on a stretch of wins over Pike School and Fay School that prepared them for the New England Junior School Tournament hosted by Fessenden School. The team found themselves in the championship game against host Fessenden with a chance at revenge for the early season loss. The blue and gold did not hold back as the bats came alive and the ninth grade leaders came out to pitch brilliantly. Childs, Hogan, and Racanelli had seven of the eleven total hits for the team, with Hogan driving in six runs. Fenn would claim the championship with a dominant 10-1 win.

Coaches Jeff LaPlante, Ryan Miklusak, and Tim Coakley couldn’t have been prouder of the way the team came together down the stretch. “They found their groove and continued to come together as a solid unit throughout the season,” said Coach Miklusak. “We had great ninth grade leadership and we look forward to our young guys continuing to grow moving forward.”

VARSITY LACROSSE

Fenn's season featured competitive matchups against tough opponents such as Dexter and Fay. Despite facing challenges with clearing and offensive execution in those games, the team consistently showed grit and determination. Against Carroll, Fenn rebounded with a standout performance from eighth grader Tye Reesey, who contributed to five of the team’s six goals, and goalie Tommy Belin, who delivered a shutout first half. Even in losses, the team showed their ability to battle and improve, highlighted by players like seventh grader Ethan Lee and eighth grader Chase Gillick stepping up against Fessenden with energy and poise.

A major highlight for the team this season was their performance at the New England Junior Prep School Lacrosse Tournament, hosted by the Fessenden School. Fenn, Fessenden, Fay, Rectory, and Indian Mountain all competed in a round robin tournament that saw some of the best from the Fenn squad. After going 2-2 in the round robin stage, the boys competed for the third place trophy against rival Fay. They held their opponents at bay and took home 3rd place. Tye Reesey was named the Offensive MVP of the tournament.

The team closed out the season with strong, cohesive play, notably in a solid performance against Rivers where early turnovers gave way to sharper execution. Offensive leaders such as Reesey, Gillick, Billy Shaw, Landon Masters continued to generate scoring opportunities, while defensive consistency remained a hallmark of the squad. Goaltenders Tommy Belin and Luke Smith provided stability in net, and the team's ability to bounce back and play as a unit reflected their growth and commitment. The spring season showcased Fenn’s depth, heart, and bright future in the sport.

VARSITY TENNIS

Coming off a stellar 2024 season in which the Varsity Tennis team finished with a 10-1, the 2025 group of talented tennis players showed they were primed for another strong season. The team returned six players who all played major roles in the previous season. With the leadership of eighth grade captains Austin Fischl, Andrew Fugh, and Nathan Xu, the boys were ready to hit the courts.

After starting the season 3-2, Fenn was set to face rival Fay School for the first time this season. The boys battled through some tough matches, but saw themselves down 2-4 with three matches left to play: second, third, and fourth doubles. All three matches ended up finishing in Fenn’s favor, including two tiebreaker wins. This victory spearheaded a four-game winning streak to close out the season with the team finishing 7-2.

One of the major highlights of the season was the New England Junior Tennis Tournament hosted by Fessenden School. Fenn had the privilege of bringing five boys to participate in the tournament. They were Andrew Fugh, Nathan Xu, Jack Adams, Austin Fischl, and Wyatt Harrington. Every boy won at least one match during the tournament, with Fugh, Adams, and Fischl each making the quarterfinals. Adams also advanced to the semifinals before falling in a tiebreaker set. The success of the boys earned the team a 3rd place finish for the tournament of eight teams.

VARSITY TRACK & FIELD

The Varsity Track and Field team had one of their most successful seasons this spring, accumulating a stellar 11-2 record. The team was built with a large number of returners, including a core group of ninth grade captains. Juwan Acevado, Amara Freeman, Mitchell Ntuen, and Alex Signorivich all played critical roles for the team’s success.

The team showed tremendous growth throughout the season, continually improving on their own personal bests. Seventh grader Ross Wein shined in the shot put, Acevado and Mitchell were stellar in the turbo javelin, and Signorivich broke the school record, and then his own record again, in the 800m. James Maletz, Henry Bonzagni, and Warren Turner were strong contributors in the relays for the blue and gold.

The season concluded as it normally does with the Fenn Relays, where Fenn hosted Fessenden, Fay School, and Pike School. Fenn finished in 2nd place just behind a very talented Fessenden team. “This was one of the more complete teams Fenn has assembled in my time,” said Coach Dave Duane. “Everyone supported each other and pushed each other throughout the season.”

JV BASEBALL

A weather-impacted season meant less games than normal for the Fenn JV Baseball team, but that didn’t stop the blue and gold from playing with heart. Throughout their season, the team saw their ups and downs, but this young group of players with solid ninth grade leadership from captains Anthony Ji and Tristen Moran stayed competitive in all of their games.

Runs were never at a premium for this team, as the blue and gold put up eight or more runs in five of their seven games played. Seventh graders Asher Brown, Eli Brown, and Nate Clark continuously stepped up at the plate, while fellow seventh grader Andrix Souza showed his calm demeanor behind the plate in every game for Fenn. This young core of players will look to make an impact next season for the varsity team.

JV TENNIS

The Fenn School Junior Varsity Tennis team enjoyed a dynamic and hard-fought spring season, marked by both dominant wins and competitive battles. Throughout the season, core contributors to consistent singles play came from seventh graders Max Kpissay, Louie Slotnick, Dominic Puntin, and eighth grader Charlie Kuper. The team's young depth looked to improve and adapt against a variety of opponents and match formats.

While the season had both highs and lows, including tight matches against Dedham, BB&N, and Fessenden, the Fenn JV squad consistently competed with grit and showed great improvement. Doubles play was a particular strength, with players like eighth graders Evan Rosso, Luke Mutooni, and George Triant anchoring several crucial wins. Even in their setbacks, many matches were decided by just a few points, reflecting how closely contested the season truly was.

The team finished strong, punctuated by a confident win over Belmont Day using a reshuffled lineup that showcased the depth and development of the entire roster. The season was a testament to the team’s resilience, camaraderie, and competitive spirit. Coach Sanborn shared this final thought of the team’s season. “With so many young players eager to learn and develop, the future of Fenn’s Tennis program as a whole looks bright.”
