ABOUT OUR STAFF

What sets Summer Fenn apart? It is the caliber, maturity, and professionalism of our staff.  Their talent, energy, experience, and dedication are absolutely unmatched. Our rigorous and selective hiring process is aimed at recruiting the most experienced, skilled professionals available. Most are teaching professionals, including some from the Fenn School faculty and all are over the age of 18. Summer Fenn staff are selected for their maturity, enthusiasm, creativity, and passion for working with children.

An average staff-to-camper ratio of 1:5 (1:4 for Lower Camp) ensures individual attention.

Our Leadership Team:

Maggie Magner  | Director of Summer Fenn

Maggie brings considerable experience in both camping and enrichment programming for children. She was most recently the Director of Hill House Summer Camp in Beacon Hill, and previously spent years working in a residential camp setting in New York. Maggie's firm belief that camp occupies a unique space in children's lives to build friendships, develop new skills and safely explore their own autonomy is at the heart of her work here at Summer Fenn.

Maggie's breadth of experience in the field of enrichment programming includes training Head Start and Early Intervention educators, as well as developing curricula and training for a national parenting company. Her approach to program delivery is centered on age-appropriateness, experiential learning, and allowing each child to be challenged and to participate at their own level.

Maggie lives in Watertown with her husband, two sons and doggie- where she also practices yoga, roots for the Red Sox, and sings to and entertains children in homeless shelters through the Birthday Wishes organization.

Sarah "Friddo" Gianfriddo | Assistant Director of Summer Fenn

Friddo graduated from Clark University in 1997 with a degree in Environmental, Science and Policy and discovered her passion for working with children shortly thereafter. She has worked with young people of all ages in Extended Day programs, camps and instructional sports programs. Friddo joined Summer Fenn in 2003, and has been the Assistant Director for ten of those twelve years, bringing experience, knowledge and spirit to the program. During the school year she also directs Fenn’s Extended Day program and works within the Peer Advocate Program.  In her free time, Friddo enjoys playing soccer, hiking, camping, learning new things and being thoroughly silly.

Susan See / Administrative Assistant for Summer Fenn

Susan has worked as Summer Fenn’s Administrative Assistant since 2012.  She spent over 20 years directing and managing day and resident camp programs in Ohio, Michigan and Missouri before transitioning into a Human Resources Director role for a number of years.  A move to the Boston area in 2012 allowed this transplanted Midwesterner the opportunity to return to her true career love – camp! Susan loves to talk with and meet campers and their families, help families with the registration process, and provide support to Maggie, Friddo and the summer camp staff to create the magic that makes Summer Fenn Day Camp so special.  In her free time Susan loves to explore the beauty and history around New England, hike, camp, cook, play games, read, listen to all kinds of music, and find quirky and unusual nooks and crannies to explore. She’s an avid Postcrossing member and loves receiving and sending postcards all over the world.
