2022 Distinguished Alumnus

Dr. Thomas Lincoln ’74
The Fenn School is thrilled to announce that Tom Lincoln ’74 has been named its 2022 Distinguished Alumnus.
Tom is a primary care physician at Baystate Brightwood Health Center in Springfield, Mass., Medical Director of the Hampden County Correctional Centers, and an Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School-Baystate. His early interest in community health care led to a career caring for the underserved and incarcerated in Western Massachusetts and beyond.
Dr. Lincoln is a true pioneer in ensuring that the marginalized, incarcerated population receives high quality health care. He and his colleagues developed and successfully integrated a nationally recognized program to care for inmates while they are incarcerated and to facilitate their transition back into their home communities. The program has served as a model for the development of community-oriented jail health programs across the country.
In collaboration with colleagues, Thomas extensively studied and reported out on the impact of the program on community health and well-being, resulting in grant funding and national recognition including the Armond Start Award of Excellence from the American College of Correctional Physicians.
In 2021, the American College of Physicians also awarded Tom the prestigious W. Lester Henry Award for Diversity and Access to Care. The award recognizes a member with outstanding accomplishments in advancing diversity in clinical medicine or research, or in access to care for diverse populations.
