Health Office

The Fenn Health Office team includes the Administrator of Health Services, the Athletic Trainer, and part-time supporting nurses who work together with the primary goal of optimizing student learning. The health office works closely with all other departments and provides professional, licensed care that supports and promotes student health and wellness in the school setting.

Health considerations which may impact the student at school must be brought to the attention of the health office prior to the start of the school year or upon diagnosis. Parents must inform the health office if their child has a significant medical history including, but not limited to, life threatening allergies, asthma, diabetes, mental health considerations, major injuries, concussions and seizure history. The health office will partner with parents, the student and other departments at school as needed to ensure that a proper care plan is implemented and followed during the school day. Students with life-threatening allergies, asthma and diabetes must provide the health office with medication orders, a care plan and any necessary medication and supplies. Students diagnosed with a concussion or sports injury must provide the health office with a care plan and medical clearance prior to a return to athletics.

Students who are feeling unwell are asked to remain at home until they have a significant improvement in symptoms or until cleared via the health office or state health protocol (When to Stay Home From School). The health office provides assessment and treatment to students who become ill or injured during the school day, including first aid and minor illness care. Students requiring daily administration of medication during the school day must provide the health office with no more than a 30 day supply of medication and submit a Medication Administration at School form. If a student requires medication during a specific field trip, a Field Trip form must be completed for each trip. All medication and health records are securely housed in the Health Office in accordance with state regulations.

All parents of students in grades 6-9 must complete concussion education once during their son’s time at Fenn and submit certification to the health office. All students in grades 6-9 must complete yearly concussion training and submit certification to the health office prior to the start of the school year. â€‹Fenn utilizes the free, on-line National Federation of High School/CDC Heads Up trainings. Comparable trainings will be accepted.
