Sustainability Master Planning
In early 2021, Fenn began partnering with GreenerU, a consulting firm focused on sustainability in educational institutions, as it embarked on a sustainability master planning process. The drive to do this came from the strong desire to pull together the various sustainable practices happening all over campus - from the classrooms to the electrical closets - into a cohesive, intentional movement to be a greener school. Fenn believes it can be a part of addressing the climate change emergency by being a place of collective and community-driven action.
Earlier in 2021, the Planning Core Team (consisting of faculty, staff, trustees, alumni, and current and former parents) worked to identify focus areas and goal-setting criteria. Surveys went out to parents, students, alumni, and Fenn faculty and staff, and the Core Team used that feedback to set its intentions for the planning process.
Fenn has identified three areas to focus this plan on.
Additionally, the Core Team identified essential values and criteria that will be used to ensure that any goals and strategies proposed meet the standards the community has set for this planning process and the overarching mission of Fenn.
Over the fall and winter of 2021-2022, individual focus area working groups will be meeting to set goals and strategies. We welcome any feedback at any time about this process, and we are eager to engage with the whole Fenn community about sustainability - please email Director of Sustainability Cameren Cousins with thoughts or questions.
