Assistant Director of Admission & Coordinator of Multicultural Outreach

Fenn seeks a highly motivated professional to serve as the Assistant Director of Admission & Coordinator of Multicultural Outreach. This is a newly-created position at Fenn.

Reporting to the Director of Admission and Financial Aid, the Assistant Director of Admission & Coordinator of Multicultural Outreach will support the admissions team in identifying mission-appropriate students, with a particular emphasis on the strategic recruitment of students from historically underrepresented groups. This position will also be responsible for identifying and cultivating strong relationships with community partners and organizations that could support these efforts.

The ideal candidate will have exceptional interpersonal skills, will be ready to engage warmly and effectively with prospective students and families, and will possess a desire to contribute to a highly collaborative team. The ability to manage multiple projects and priorities using excellent verbal and written communication skills is key. This role requires diplomacy, tact, organization, and a solid appreciation of what it means to be part of a team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with the Director of Admission and Financial Aid to develop a recruitment strategy for historically underrepresented students, including identifying community partners and organizations that will support the School’s efforts

  • Conducts campus tours for prospective families with the goal of strengthening relationships and conveying the value of the Fenn experience

  • Plans and implements on- and off-campus admissions events

  • Counsels prospective families regarding the admissions and financial aid processes, as well as Fenn’s community and culture

  • Partners with Fenn’s faculty, Division Heads, and DEI team to help ensure an equitable and successful experience for students from underrepresented backgrounds

  • Communicates with prospective families and community partners in a responsive, professional, detail-oriented manner

  • Potential teaching and coaching opportunities, depending on interest and qualification

  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Admission and Financial Aid

Qualifications / Relevant Experience / Skills / Abilities:

  • Bachelor's degree

  • A minimum of 2-3 years of experience engaging with historically underrepresented groups and/or diverse populations in roles such as: recruitment, community organizing, coaching, or other similar positions

  • Experience in an independent school is preferred, or related sales and marketing experience
  • Strong oral communication, written communication, and presentation skills with outstanding attention to detail

  • Ability to work effectively and problem-solve in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and frequent deadlines

  • Passion for DEI work and a desire to have a lasting impact on DEI efforts in a school setting

  • Ability to use relevant tools for communication and reporting, including MS Office, Google Workspace, and a CRM database

  • Ability to physically navigate the campus several times a day

Additional details:

  • This is a 12-month position

  • Occasional evening and weekend work required
