Despite the rain, eighth graders James Correia, Dylan Volman, and Scott Irving participated in the 5-mile Making Strides for Breast Cancer Walk on Sunday, October 6, in Boston. They raised $1105, surpassing their goal of $1000. The money raised by the 7,427 walkers on 888 teams will go to breast cancer research, mammograms, and medical services. "We were soggy by the end," says Fenn parent Janet Correia, who organized the team, "but it was well worth it." In writing about the experience for a class, James noted that "if there is a cause that you believe in, then try to make a difference," and he included a quote from Mahatma Gandhi: "The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others."
