The Fenn Visual Arts Department is pleased to announce the opening of its second visiting artist exhibition this year, in the Kane Gallery.
Titled “Pastel Works,” the exhibit features work by Newburyport, MA, artist Janice Eaton Updike, who creates contemplative landscapes of nature, color, and light that are inspired by the quiet beauty of salt marshes and fields along the east coast. Her still lifes and interiors are studies of natural light transforming objects and space with the interplay of illumination and shadow upon color.
The exhibit will run from Mon., Apr. 4 through Fri., Apr. 29. An official artist opening will be held on Sun., Apr. 10, from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. in the gallery.
A graduate of Montserrat College of Art in Beverly, MA, Janice, who has been producing art for more than twenty years, prefers pastels for their versatility and range of subtlety, and her work is luminous and memorable. It can be found in many New England residences and corporate institutions and Janice has exhibited in galleries and studios in Massachusetts and Maine.
The Kane Gallery is open on weekdays from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. and is on the Fenn School campus at 516 Monument Street in Concord, MA. For more information, please contact Tete Cobblah at firstname.lastname@example.org or at 978-318-3506.
