From Monument Street to Mount Everest!
Last month, Fenn alum Tyler Andrews '05 claimed the fastest ascent to the top of Mount Everest, reaching the summit of the 29,032-foot mountain in 9 hours and 55 minutes. Andrews surpassed the previous record held by Nepali climber Lakpa Gelu Sherpa by an impressive one hour and one minute. Andrews continued his climb through the night to make it to the summit by 5:00am Nepali time. This record-breaking feat was achieved while using supplemental oxygen during the climb.
Tyler attempted to break the speed record five times last year without supplemental oxygen, but the weather on and around the mountain was too much, pushing him to use the oxygen in this latest attempt. The Concord Academy and Tufts University alum has accomplished quite a lot in his young life, and we look forward to seeing him conquer more feats in the future. We're so proud of Tyler and this incredible accomplishment!
