The Fenn School is proud to host the Tough Ruck 26.2 Boston (marathon) for a third year on Sunday, April 14. Approximately 1,000 service members, first responders, and civilians will participate in the 26.2-mile endurance event, marching in honor of America's fallen military and first responders and raising funds to support the Military Friends Foundation.
An opening ceremony will begin on campus at 7:00 a.m., including words of welcome from military dignitaries, Fenn Head of School Derek Boonisar, American marathon runner Becca Pizza and former Boston Bruin Zdeno Chara, and others before the field of ruckers steps off onto the course by 7:20 a.m.
All are welcome to cheer on the ruckers as they step-off, travel the marathon course through Concord, Lexington, Bedford, etc., and return back to Fenn after their journey of 26.2 miles. A Family Festival will take place from noon to 6:00 p.m. on campus and will feature complimentary Bertucci's food and other sweet treats, kids' games, music, and more.
Spectators who wish to enjoy the festival and welcome ruckers "home" at the end of the marathon can park at Concord-Carlisle High School (500 Walden Street) and ride the complimentary shuttle buses that will run continuously from 5:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. Shuttle riders will be dropped off and picked up at Fenn's flagpole circle in front of the Lower School on Monument Street.
Fenn eighth and ninth grade students are excited to serve as Fenn ambassadors for the duration of the event, passing out water at hydration stations along the course, creating motivational posters and cheering on the ruckers, and providing beverages and food items to marathon finishers. All other Fenn community members are equally welcome to partake in the event, outfitted in their blue and gold and supporting the courageous rucking effort.
