SHORE COUNTRY DAY 58
It was a very close matchup between Pike and Shore Country Day on a fairly flat course. Fenn would need to dig deep in what shaped up to be the team’s most competitive meet thus far. Thanks in large part to strong performances by ninth grader Amara Freeman with a 6:24 mile pace, eighth grader Joseph Blake with a 7:36 pace, and seventh grader Billy Shaw with a 7:38 pace, Fenn edged out Pike for 1st place overall in the team scores, remaining undefeated on the season.

LCA –
With a short turnaround, Fenn was ready to take on Pike once again, as well as Fay and LCA. This would end up being another close battle with Pike as they had a couple of strong runners that gave us a real competition for the top five finishing positions. Co-captain Charlie McGowan won this race and fellow co-captain Henry Bonzagni came in 4th. Fortunately for Fenn, the blue and gold runners have shown their depth in talent, and secured places 6 (Juwan Acevado), 7 (Tye Reesey), and 8 (Amara Freeman). With five of the top eight finishing spots, Fenn kept their winning ways rolling.

FENN SCHOOL –
Fenn started off a new week with a familiar opponent in the Pike School, as well as Carroll School, at home. This was the third consecutive race against Pike and it turned into another nail biter. This time Pike placed 1st and 2nd. Our first runner was Henry Bonzagni (Mr Consistency). Once again the depth of our team saved us. We had places 5 through 9. It was actually a hot day to run and so there were not many PR's. However, Joseph Blake and Landon Cleary both improved their PRs by almost 30 seconds.

LCA –
As Fenn headed to Lexington Christian Academy for their race, the team was feeling confident after some strong performance in recent weeks. This confidence would shine brightest today, as Fenn would take the win handedly over LCA. The first eight runners to cross the finish line were donning the blue and gold. Coach Cribb applauded their efforts from their recent practices and the determination the boys continue to show.

NOBLE & GREENOUGH 20
FENN SCHOOL 24
In what Coach Burgess named “the game of the year,” Fenn would go on to win a tightly contested matchup against Nobles at home. A variety of players had a huge impact on the field. Ninth grader Jetari Veal continued his dominance with four touchdowns behind an effective offensive line that included eighth graders Daniel Collins, Renzo Ma, Odin Broberg, William Maynard, and ninth grader Patch Remington.
Quarterback Vinny Hogan stepped into the backfield and played an efficient game, making throws to a number of players. The defense continually rallied to the ball with great tackling, making crucial stops when needed against Nobles. Up 24-20 with two minutes remaining, seventh grader Adam Barger sealed the game with a fearless onside kick recovery. From there, the Fenn offense was able to take victory formation and kneel out the remaining time on the clock.
THURSDAY, OCTOBER 24
THAYER ACADEMY 8
FENN SCHOOL 28
Fenn took home their third straight win in tackle games with a victory over a very solid Thayer Academy team. The blue and gold opened up strong on the defensive side of the ball forcing a quick three-and-out and a punt. On the ensuing possession, ninth grader Jetari Veal and eighth grader Landon Masters were featured running the ball. Each of them ripped off huge runs for first downs and finally Masters punched it in for his first score of the year.
The next few possessions for Thayer were shut down quickly by Fenn, leading to two turnovers. Eighth grader Trevor Clarkin had his best performance of the year at quarterback, throwing for three touchdowns - one each to Jetari Veal, Ben Mucci, and Vinny Hogan. Ninth grader Ethan Na had the defensive play of the game when he dropped back into pass coverage and read the play perfectly, jumping in front of the pass to pick it off. This was a crucial turnover for Thayer as they were driving down the field to make it a one possession game.

BB&N 5
Fenn traveled to Cambridge, MA on Wednesday afternoon to take on a skilled BB&N team. From the opening whistle, both teams battled for possession with chances coming from each end. BB&N would go on to control the pace of play for the majority of the game. Fenn would find themselves down 2-0 at halftime. The boys showed signs of determination to start the second half, but BB&N was too much to handle, closing out three more goals. Ninth grader Cass Myler, eighth graders Elad Lawrence and Lucas Vasquez, and seventh grader Eugene Dong showed grit until the very end.

FAY SCHOOL 7
In a rematch from a lopsided loss earlier this season, Fenn looked to contain Fay for as long as they could. Fay would show to be more aggressive and hungry to the ball early in the game. Despite ninth grader Ryan Mulvaney making big save after big save once again, the score was 4-0 at the half. Fay continued to pressure the ball in the second half, adding to their lead. Despite being down, Fenn showed their resilience and grit to not give up and scored a goal off of great defensive pressure from co-captain Luke Mutooni. Matt Greco, Cass Myler, Mitchell Ntuen, Jay Frida and Jack Adams battled hard to close it out.

FESSENDEN SCHOOL 7
Another solid start from Fenn gave the boys confidence as they took on a very talented Fessenden team on the road. Despite their efforts, Fessenden would go up 4-0 at half. Facing another second half deficit, Fenn added even more pressure onto the back line of their opponents. Jack Adams scored a goal unassisted going up the right sideline all the way to the net, which sparked the blue and gold. Ryan Mulvaney was strong once again in net, making eight big saves, including two full-stretched diving saves. Fessenden would add a few more to pull away in the end.
FRIDAY, OCTOBER 25
ST. JOHN’S PREP 2
FENN SCHOOL 4
Following a gauntlet of opponents, the Fenn boys were finally back home. Wanting to make an early statement for their home crowd, Fenn controlled the early portion of the game with composed passing and movement. Eighth grader Xandi Sureau scored on a masterful shot in the top right corner to give Fenn the lead, followed by eighth grader Eugene Dong, who scored on a great assist from eighth grader Elad Lawrence. Fenn took a 2-0 into the half.
Co-captain Cass Myler would add a goal off a great cross from eighth grader Jay Frida. The Prep would add a goal to cut it to 3-1, but co-captain Luke Mutooni added his second goal in a week's time to keep St. John’s Prep at bay. Even with a late goal from the visitors, Will Galati stood tall in net and provided a great effort from start to finish to help secure the victory.

FAY SCHOOL 7
Fenn had a large break between their previous game and their matchup with Fay. With the several weeks of training to prepare, it was Fay who found themselves more effective in the rematch with their rivals. Fay's athletic group of players showed that they too had been putting in the work over the same timeframe. Fenn would fall to their opponents and look to turn things around quickly with a game the very next day.
THURSDAY, OCTOBER 17
SPARHAWK ACADEMY 3
FENN SCHOOL 3
With their full lineup of 13 JV athletes available, Fenn took on Sparhawk Academy with energy and purpose. However, it did not come easy out of the gates for the blue and gold, giving up ball control in the first five minutes. This led to back-to-back goals from Sparhawk and a 2-0 deficit before anyone had broken a sweat.
Much to the team’s credit, Fenn responded with urgency and leveled the score by halftime. Shortly after the break, Fenn punched in another to move ahead, 3-2! Sparhawk's capable center midfielder nailed an impressive 25-yard shot with just five minutes to play to bring the final result to 3-3. Still, both Coach Sandborn and Coach Smith were encourage from the effort of their team.

FENN SCHOOL 0
Fenn faced off against a talented offensive-minded Fessenden team at home and found themselves in an early hole, falling behind 2-0 in the first 10 minutes. Fenn had the right ideas in mind for receiving and passing briskly, but it wasn’t enough to overcome a strong Fessenden team on this day. Goalkeeper Chase Gillick's shot-stopping ability helped keep the scoreline to 5-0 for the afternoon, but the reality was clear that without his efforts, it could have been more. Kudos to our hard-running group, particularly Preston Simon, Ryan Liu, and Andrew Fugh, for competing with well-controlled tenacity.

BELMONT DAY 4
FENN SCHOOL 1
Fenn hosted Belmont Day at home in their last game before the weekend. Seventh grader Ryan Liu surprised Belmont Day's goalkeeper with a long shot that bounced high over his outstretched hands to give us an early lead, 1-0. Over the ensuing fifty minutes, Belmont Day's advantages in ball control proved too much to hold back. Our back line of ninth graders Zach Nelson, Anthony Ji, Finn Whitman caught the visitors offside a number of times, and eighth grader Chase Gillick contributed an enormous shift in goal, so the 2-1 deficit appeared retrievable for most of the second half. Yet, the visitors eventually beat the offside trap for two clean breakaway goals to push the final margin to 4-1.

FESSENDEN SCHOOL 3
In an outstanding matchup on the field, Fenn traveled to Newton to take on Fessenden. Fenn struck first to grab the early lead, 1-0, thanks to the seventh grade combination of Tayte Martin and Teddy Sheehan. Fessenden would battle back and put the boys in blue and gold in a deficit of 1-2. Fenn would once again find a way to fight back in this back-and-forth game thanks to a goal from eighth grader Leo Brodsky, assisted by Henry Gerson.
Seventh grader Raffi Pisano made many a stifling 10 saves in total and played brilliantly between the posts. It was a late Fessenden goal that sealed it for the home team. Despite the result, the game gave the team a boost of confidence heading into the final weeks of their season.

BELMONT DAY 1
Fenn traveled to Belmont Day and took on their feisty opponent on a very small field. Fenn scored early in the match to give them the lead at the half, 1-0. Seventh grader Teddy Sheehan scored off of a Leo Brodsky throw-in. Belmont Day would tie it early in the second half, putting more pressure on the Fenn boys throughout the second half.
With 10 minutes left, it was Brodsky this time that scored unassisted to push the lead to 2-1. In the final minute, Belmont Day turned the ball over and eighth grader Michael Frahm shot from just over half field over the goalie’s outstretched arms and scored to make the final score 3-1. Seventh grader Taylor Fredrickson played stellar defense along with eighth grader Hugh Morgan. In all, the whole team had a complete game and effort from start to finish.
