SHORE COUNTRY DAY –
FENN SCHOOL –
With the fall season underway, the Fenn Cross Country team had a brilliant day on the course, finishing with five of the top six spots. Co-captain Henry Bonzagni, ninth grader Alex Signorevitch, and eighth graders James Maletz and Luke Soliman all finished with a faster time on the Fenn course, which is slightly longer than last year, than they did all of last season. With that kind of improvement, Coach Cribb noted he was excited to see where their times would be at the end of this season.
FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 20
FENN SCHOOL –
PARK SCHOOL –
After a solid performance to start the season, Fenn would outdo themselves in this race against Park School, as Fenn earned the first five finishing positions in their meet. Coach Cribb and Coach Bradfonbrener took their large team of 21 runners to the challenging hills of the Larz Anderson Park in Brookline to compete against Park School and British School. This ended up being a dominating performance across the board. Many of Fenn’s runners who are new to the team impressed with their grit on the hills, with special recognition to eighth graders Wyatt Reynolds and Nathan Cheboryot.

Ninth grader Juwan Acevedo showed steady improvement in his time, despite the relatively hot day for the meet. He finished 2nd to eighth grader Charlie McGowen, who matched his previous record setting time of 10:44.
Eighth grader Shiven Patel improved a full minute over his time from Wednesday’s race. Vincent Wu finally began running without any pain, as he dropped a massive five minutes off his first attempt on the course last week. True grit shown by co-captain Henry Bonzangi who had some bad cramping and had to walk a bit to work it out, but still ended up with a third place finish.

FENN SCHOOL 6
Varsity Football matched up with a very talented Fay School team on Friday, September 27. Although it was a tough game for the blue and gold on our home field, the boys played hard to the very end. There were many positives to take away from the game while also presenting some opportunities to learn from mistakes.
Our offense was led by ninth grader Jetari Veal, who had a 57-yard touchdown catch and run, as well as many other explosive runs throughout the game. Eighth grader Landon Masters captained the defense and led by example as he continued to dig in and grind through the game until the very end. The boys will take this game and work to improve as they prepare for their next opponent, Fessenden.

BELMONT HILL 3
Varsity Soccer began their season with a solid opponent in Belmont Hill. With this scrimmage being the first time these boys were on the same field together, their effort to find chemistry was quite noticeable. Ninth grade goalie Ryan Mulvaney made some real solid saves in net throughout the first half, but Belmont Hill led 1-0 at the break.
Early in the second half, Fenn pressured their opponents on the ball as eighth grader George Triant forced a turnover inside the 18-yard box, finding an open Eugene Dong who buried the goal to make it 1-1. Belmont Hill would battle back, seeing the Fenn boys raise their level of play. In doing so, they snagged two more to finish with the win, 3-1.

Coming off a great team win on Wednesday, Fenn traveled to Needham, MA to take on St. Sebastian’s to close out the week. The hosts made things difficult early on for the Fenn boys, as Fenn saw themselves go down 2-0 early in the first half. Mulvaney made two huge saves to keep the game close for the blue and gold.
As the second half began, the boys raised their level of play and scored two goals in four minutes to bring the game even at 2-2, thanks to ninth grader Cass Myler and Triant (3). St. Sebastian’s struck back with a solid finish on the right side of the field to reclaim the lead. Late in the game, Sureau hit the crossbar with three minutes left to play, as Fenn fell just short on the road, 3-2.
JV SOCCER
WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 25
DEXTER 1
FENN SCHOOL 8
The JV Soccer squad hosted Dexter to begin their season. It was a successful result for the blue and gold, as Fenn outmatched their opponents. Three early goals from seventh grader Max Kpissay, a second-half hat trick from ninth grader Zach Nelson, and some hard earned goals from seventh graders Preston Simon and Max Peddar provided all the offense Fenn needed. Fenn controlled the pace of play and saw a nice effort from goaltender Chase Gillick in his first start between the posts.
FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 27
FAY SCHOOL 4
FENN SCHOOL 0
Rival Fay School came to 516 Monument Street to close out the week, and they were the stronger side from the first whistle. Executing the basics can be the difference, and Fenn was just a step behind their opponents in this matchup. The score remained at 4-0 in large part to the efforts of eighth grader Chase Gillick in goal.
Every Fenn boy ran hard throughout the game and looked to keep their teammates involved. With their record at 1-1, Coach Sanborn is ready for practice next week to help improve in the areas needed for a complete game effort. They will look forward to a rematch later this season.
THIRDS SOCCER
MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 23
RASHI SCHOOL 3
FENN SCHOOL 2
As the Fenn Thirds Soccer team prepared for their first game of the season, Coaches Hackett and O’Connor had their team ready. This would turnout to be a back-and-forth competitive matchup for the blue and gold. With Rashi leading, it was seventh grader Teddy Sheehan who notched not one, but two goals for Fenn to keep them in the game. However, a late goal from Rashi would be the difference in this matchup, as Fenn fell 3-2. A strong first effort for the squad, as they look to improve as the season progresses.
